Facebook is buying Recreational Equipment’s new headquarters in Bellevue, Washington for $367.6 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The social media giant now has more than 3 million SF of office space in the region.
- Worth Noting: The outdoor clothing and gear retailer had been planning to occupy the 400,000 SF campus near Seattle this summer, but the company opted instead to cash out while embracing WFH, and leasing a number of smaller offices in the region.
- Tech companies embrace office space: In New York, Facebook recently agreed to lease the entire 730,000 square feet of office space in the historic James A. Farley Building. And this summer, Amazon said it plans open a 630,000 square foot office in the Lord & Taylor building, which it purchased in the spring. [WSJ]
