Shopify has subleased an 8,200-square-foot retail store from Google at Ascot Properties’ 131 Greene Street in Soho. Google abandoned the space after spending $6 million on structural renovations and running a pop-up holiday store in 2018, according to the Real Deal.
E-commerce opens first NYC location: The Canadian e-commerce firm plans on using the space to support its online merchant customers with classes and other events. Shopify also has a brick-and-mortar location in Los Angeles, which is temporarily closed due to Covid-19.
Worth Noting: The deal was signed in April, and the lease runs through August 2024. Shopify is used by 1 million businesses in more than 175 countries. [TRD]
