Aaron Ellison departs WeWork

WeWork’s Head of Real Estate, Aaron Ellison has departed the co-working firm. Ellison led a 50-person leasing team, and joins Granit Gjonbalaj, Wendy Silverstein, and Sarah Pontius on the list of real estate executives who have left in recent months, Business Insider reported.

  • Backdrop: Since November, nearly 3,000 workers have been laid off and the overall valuation has plummeted from $47 billion to $2.9 billion.
  • Co-working firms bands together: More than 20 of the world’s largest co-working firms, which include Industrious, Convene, JustCo of Singapore, and Regus have formed a new umbrella organization known as the Workplace Operator Readiness Council to focus on health and safety. Members said the group would release a playbook this week detailing specific steps they have agreed to take to make workplaces safer, including contact tracing, decontamination, and social distancing. One notable absentee from the group is WeWork, according to the Wall Street Journal. [BI+WSJ]
