By 2050, 6.7 billion people worldwide are expected to live in urban areas. To accommodate the influx, emerging technologies will make the cities of the future vastly different than the cities of today, the National Geographic predicted.
Going green: Gutters will be a thing of the past as absorbent rain gardens and pools will collect rainwater, and then filter it for reuse.
Future: As people live longer, developers will build ‘Intergenerational housing’ to accommodate a large age range. The future buildings will have varying unit sizes as well as easy access to services and transit.
