Robert Durst’s lawyers are taking HBO to task for misrepresenting evidence in “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst”. The murder case has been built atop information uncovered by the documentary, and Durst’s defense team wants that evidence thrown out, according to the NYTimes.
The alleged crime: Robert Durst is charged with killing Susan Berman two decades ago. The anonymous note that alerted police of the whereabouts of Berman’s body seems to be in his handwriting.
The recording: Durst agreed to an interview with HBO against his lawyer’s counsel and admitted lying to the police who questioned him about his wife’s disappearance. He then went to the bathroom and rambled to himself for seven minutes.
Twisted words: The film ends with an audio recording of Durst muttering, “There it is, you’re caught…. Killed them all, of course.” However, the full tape reveals that the filmmakers re-ordered the words to accentuate the dramatic ending.
