Landed has raised a $7.5 million Series A round led by Initialized Capital, according to TechCrunch. The startup was founded to solve the financial challenge teachers face when seeking to buy a house in expensive school districts.
Solution: The startup provides up to $120,000 towards the down payment in exchange for 25% of the investment gain when the house is sold. Landed also receives a brokerage referral fee.
Valley darlings: It’s trendy for VC’s to fund startups that can yield both financial and social returns. Returns on these so-called ‘for-profit social enterprises’ is especially challenging.
