New Yorkers blame Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Amazon debacle

Unfortunately deal will not be revived

A new Siena College Poll found that 61 percent of New Yorkers are still in favor of the nixed deal in which Amazon would receive up to $3 billion in state & city incentives.

Brunt of the blame: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez… 38 percent of respondents labeled her a villain in the saga. Interestingly, only 34 percent of New Yorkers have a positive view of Ocasio-Cortez, while 44 percent view her negatively.

Heard on the Street: Savanna’s Chris Schlank over the weekend: “It was incredibly, incredibly, incredibly poorly handled by Cuomo and de Blasio… The hubris that Cuomo showed and the weakness that be Blasio showed tacitly not wanting to put his name on Amazon because he likes the unions was terrible in so many ways. It’s going to take a very long time to repair the damage.”

Worth repeating: Amazon will not reconsider their decision as the backlash was tarnishing its image beyond the city. Not happening.
