roOomy is a virtual staging and 3D modeling platform that allows one to virtually furnish a house or apartment. With their interactive mobile app, a user can digitally remove and place furniture in a room. This helps prospective renters and buyers get a better sense what the space will look when it’s fully furnished.

Revenue streams: In addition to generating revenue from real estate contracts (e.g. Sotheby’s International Realty), roOomy makes money every time a user orders furniture directly through the app. Major affiliate fees.

Give the Founder the MicPieter Aarts told the Daily Beat in an interview: “The easiest way to quickly stage listings today and break down those visual obstacles, whether you’re an agent or property manager, is through virtual staging services. With one fifth of movers purchasing/leasing their homes sight-unseen, it’s clear that the real estate industry must adopt innovative augmented reality and virtual reality technologies to best serve their clients.”

Fundraising: The startup raised a $13 million Series B round from Antimeridian and Bertoia in 2016.
