Amazon’s proposed HQ2 in Long Island City has public support
The findings: According to the new poll, 56 percent of New Yorkers approve of Amazon’s new secondary headquarters in LIC, while 36 percent oppose the move. This is essentially unchanged from a Quinnipiac poll in December.
Why it matters: The State Senate appointed Michael Gianaris to the Public Authorities Control Board last week. Gianaris would be one of three voting board members who could veto state actions on the project. With Governor Cuomo’s ability to reject the pick, strong public support was key. Unfortunately, news broke late this morning that Amazon is abandoning plans for the move.
