Citigroup is vacating the space in 2020
Amazon has signed an LOI to take around 1 million SF of space at Savanna’s One Court Square, according to Crains. The deal is mutually beneficial as Citigroup was already planning to vacate 1 million square feet at the LIC office tower in 2020.
Other winners: Amazon also intends to build a new headquarters on Plaxall Realty’s Anable Basin site on the LIC waterfront.
Worth Noting: Governor Cuomo is planning to create a ‘general project plan’ to rezone a roughly 20-acre site around the Anable Basin, which will pave the way for Amazon’s massive campus. The process gives the state the power to circumvent the City Council. It has been used for projects like Atlantic Yards and the World Trade Center.
