New York City still in the running
Amazon has narrowed the location for its second headquarters to Crystal City, Dallas, or New York City, according to the WashingtonPost. The company is involved in “advanced discussions” with Virginia’s Crystal City to determine the buildings Amazon would occupy and when employees would start moving there.
Reading the tea leaves: JBG Smith, a real estate developer in Virginia, pulled some of its buildings off the leasing market. The winning City will add roughly 50,000 high-paying jobs and $5 billion in investment.
Amazon responds… “Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as HQ2 selection. You’re not doing Crystal City, VA any favors. And stop treating the NDA you signed like a used napkin.”
